About

The Young Designers is an Artist in Residency program conducted over two terms at Wynyard High - Tasmania - Australia.

The Young Designers project will have a heavy focus on transforming old clothes and textiles into new products. Thrift shop items will be our medium in which we will create something new and exciting. It will be ethical - recycling - design -and business support all rolled into one unique project.

In addition to the fashion elements the project will be looking at how important media and the web is when transforming a home maker into a world wide label. The students will learn to blog and promote themselves with the tools that they have available at their finger tips in this modern world. No matter what the future is for these seeds of creativity, the students will be able to transform the skills learned here into their future making adventures.

A range of making skills will be explored by the students, For example, but not limited by: sewing, printing, dying, weaving, embellishing, crocheting, knitting and design.

Outcomes may include, but not limited by: Fashion parades, competition entries and market stalls.

Here on this blog you will see posts by the students about the work that they are creating at that point in time. Please spend a little bit of your time and leave a comment of support on their posts.
